Time boxing – A Constraint for achieving value amongst teams

                        

                             Building up boundaries and putting strict procedures around an action or activity leads to Time boxing. It is actually focused at reaching the ultimate goal and moving towards it following strict and rigid steps. For example, if we do not fix up a time frame for a meeting it might run into hours which would consequently affect the other processes. When we follow a strict time limitation and plan our activities then achieving the target becomes easy and approachable. Another advantage of Time boxing is that we tend to focus on the most important issue at hand rather than beating the bush on irrelevant elements.

                              Time boxing is very essential for any project as it fixes the pivotal points and helps attain the successful and effective completion of the project. Time boxing helps in fixing the scheduling, operation and final relevance to all the projects. It is an important tool with the project managers to promote value, team building and deliverable to the ultimate satisfaction of the end users. Time boxing ensures that the individual work as a team in giving quality and quantity within fixed and aimed operations.                           Time boxing also ensures the prevention of a common problem called, “feature creep” wherein teams add features to any software without realising the requirement or its application. Feature creep leads to futile efforts which can affect the development and maintenance of the quality and the time lines in relation to the projects. Time boxing aims at minimising the efforts and giving a product which is competitive as well as on the expected lines of the consumers.
